“For as long as I can remember,” Garett Beecher, senior, said when asked how long he has played basketball. Since the age of three or four, Beecher has had a love for the game. In elementary school he played for several teams out of Onaga. He then went on to play for Andy Tanking in Middle School. Later, he got asked to play for KC Legacy and continued to play with that team all four years of high school while still playing on the Holton High School team.

“The game itself is my inspiration,” Beecher said.

Beecher puts in a lot of extra time in the summer. He travels to eight different tournaments and in his free time practices in the gym everyday for at least an hour. He participates in weights and works hard to reach his goal of being a strong player for his team.

He’s always loved to play basketball and can’t wait to continue his career. Recently Beecher signed to play at University of Saint Mary. He also received a $100,000 academic scholarship, but is undecided on what major he will pursue.

“It’s an honor to be going to Saint Mary’s, I can’t wait to be part of the team,” Beecher said.
