Holton’s Junior Varsity football season is about to come to a close with only one game remaining in the season.
After starting out the season by crushing Perry-Lecompton and Royal Valley, they took a stumble against Topeka High. After the Topeka High game, their remaining four games were at home. Their next opponent was the Nemaha Valley Raiders.
After trailing most of the game to Nemaha Valley, a late touchdown and a two point conversion helped Holton sneak in a victory 8-6.
“We’re not performing very well right now but are working hard each and every week to improve,” Mark Katherens, 11, said.
After falling to Blue Valley, the wildcat’s next game was against the Sabetha Bluejays.
Trailing at halftime, the wildcat offense kicked it into gear scoring all three of their touchdowns in the second half to go on and win the game 20-14. Holton’s rushing attack was led by Jacob Hess who had 186 yards on 11 carries for 2 touchdowns.
“The offensive line really helped us win that football game, Jacob Hess, sophomore, said.
This puts Holton’s JV record at 4-2 going into their final game against the Atchison Redman.
“We want to go out on a strong note,” Jacob Spalding, 11, said.
