Two of the girls from the cross country team competed Saturday, Oct. 31 in the state competition for 4A held at Wamego. It was the first trip for them both. Connor Strader, freshman, finished fifteenth out of 104 participants and Rachelle Harman, sophomore, finished fourteenth with the time of 16:18.

“I was really nervous! We were walking to course before the race and I was getting excited, then the nerves started coming to me. There we like hundreds of butterflies! So to block it out I just kept telling myself that nerves are good, and I need to use them to get excited”, said Strader.

Head Coach Darin Stous was proud of the way the girls stuck with it and showed good work ethic.

“As the race took off they settled into their rhythm and stayed near the front of the pack. They stayed and worked together throughout the whole raced. The girls had a wonderful race and good conclusion to end the season,” Stous, said.
