Fantasy Outlook:
On the rise –
Nate Burleson (Sea)- With Hasselback back under center and weak pass defenses in upcoming weeks, Burleson is a good pickup. He is owned in 70% of ESPN leagues.
Droppable-
Terrell Owens (Buf)- Big name Owens is overrated and not worthy of a roster spot. He is owned in 98% of ESPN leagues but is only averaging 4.5 points a week. The faulty Bills are 2-4 and have only scored 20 points in weeks 3,4, and 5 combined. Drop him.
Other News:
After reading this crazy story about Australian rugby player Ben Czislowski, I had to pass it along. Czislowski had a collision with the opposing team’s player during a rugby game. He had his head stitched up and went back into the game. Three months later he went to the doctor and complained of headaches. The doctor found a tooth embedded in his head. “I’ve got the tooth at home, sitting on the bedside table. If he wants it back he can have it,” Czislowski said.
I think the tooth fairy should pay double for that tooth.
Kobayashi might want to watch out for Antonio Judd when he is training for his next hotdog-eating competition. Judd was sentenced to 18 months in prison after stealing a hotdog from a man. The man was sitting under a tree in a park in Massachusetts enjoying his hotdog, when Judd reportedly grabbed the hotdog after flashing what appeared to be a gun. Judd was arrested and found carrying a pellet gun and a pocketknife. This will be his fourth time in prison. Eighteen months for a stolen hotdog? I think being a hotdog vendor for the Chiefs home games in December while wearing shorts and “I stole a hotdog” painted on his chest would do just as well.
Speaking of the Chiefs, they finally posted a W on Sunday with a road win over the Redskins.”I could take 22 guys off the street and win two games,” Coach Haley stated before the season started. Well, they are half-way there. The Redskins have now faced a win-less team each week of the season, and have put up a measly 2-4 record.
The Royals have ended another disappointing season. A 65-97 record is not what fans expected after a good start. The bright spot of the season would have to be potential Cy Young Winner Zach Greinke. Greinke handled the Sports Illustrated Cover without being jinxed and was talked about all year. The only stat that hurts him is his win total, which could have been helped by more offensive production from his teammates. This is how his stats stack up against the rest of the league.
American League Place:
• ERA 1st 2.16
• Strikeouts 2nd 242
• Wins tied 8th 16
After Brett Favre’s victory in the Monday night showdown against his former team, the Packers, Favre became the only player in history to defeat all 32 teams. That averages out to about one team per time he said he was retiring.
I know, a Favre joke in back-to-back issues is unacceptable. I promise that will be the last of the Favre jokes.
Today is “Evaluate Your Life” Day. That’s deep.
