In the movie “The Proposal,” Margaret who is played by Sandra Bullock, is a pushy boss book editor and who is about to get deported to Canada. She quickly announces to her bosses that she is marrying her assistant, Andrew, played by Ryan Reynolds. Marrying Andrew is the only way she can keep her job and stay in the country.
Andrew agrees to the plan but the only way he will do it is if he gets his book published and gets a promotion to be the editor of the department. This could be a chance to get back for how poorly Margaret has treated him in the past.
The two of them travel to Alaska to celebrate Andrew’s grandmother’s 90th birthday. Betty White plays the grandmother. Between all of the chaos, they begin to see each other as totally different people and they start having feelings for each other.
I really like this movie. It is really funny and the characters do a really good job on their acting. In the beginning, I didn’t like the way Margaret acted toward everyone. She fired an employee for no reason and every time she was getting ready to walk out of her office, Andrew would e-mail everyone and say “the witch is on her broom.” But then during the trip to Alaska, Margaret started being nicer toward Andrew because she realized how bad she has been treating everyone. It starts getting funny and entertaining. Margaret stops being pushy and shows everyone how nice she can be. It is a comedy because it’s funny but it’s also romantic.
I would give “The Proposal” four out of fives paws. It kept me on the edge of my seat and the whole movie was entertaining. It wasn’t boring. There was never a part where I just wanted to leave and stop watching it. It is out on DVD so you can buy it at Walmart.
