Family, Career, Community, Leaders of America (FCCLA). FCCLA is a National Organization that helps promote growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education.
The local Holton High School FCCLA group is currently working on STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events. STAR events are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation. A STAR event night will be held on Thursday, February 4th in the HHS Library and first floor classrooms. Parents can come and watch kids present their STAR events. Holton FCCLA is hosting district STAR events at the EUM church on February 10, a total of 27 students are participating in 13 different events.
Holton FCCLA takes many steps in promoting FCCLA. During the week of February 1-5, the Holton Chapter will be sponsoring FCCLA Week. During this week they will be having different activities each day promoting FCCLA. Monday is “Find the FCCLA emblem day.” Students will search around the school to find the hidden FCCLA emblem. Tuesday is “Best Cupid Impression.” Students are asked to dress up like Cupid, school appropriate of course. Wednesday is “ Wear Red & White day.” These colors are the National colors of FCCLA. Thursday is “Answer the FCCLA trivia,” and students will answer a question for a prize. Friday is “Crush Day,” where girl students will be given heart necklaces and will not be allowed to talk to the boys. If a boy gets a girl to talk to him then she has to give him her heart. At the end of the day if the girl still has her necklace she receives a piece of candy. These activities will take place the week prior to the actual National FCCLA week on February 7-12.
